چکیده

This paper summarizes research dealing with the induction of spontaneous superovulation in the cyclic hamster by single injections of PMSG. Four principal approaches have been used : 1) ovulation rate as an endpoint ; 2) number and size of follicles, and staging of follicular development in serially sectioned ovaries ; 3) determining the effects of an antiserum to PMSG ; 4) measuring steroid and peptide hormone levels in normal and PMSG-treated animals. Collectively, the results show the advantages of using the hamster for studies of follicular growth and atresia.

Repeated superovulation may affect mitochondrial functions of cumulus cells in mice

Controlled ovarian stimulation by exogenous gonadotrophins is a key procedure during the in vitro fertilization cycle to obtain a sufficient number of oocytes in humans. Previous studies demonstrated that repeated superovulation had deleterious effects on the ovaries. However, whether repeated superovulation adversely affects the mitochondrial functions of cumulus cells remains unclear. In this...

Comparing three superovulation protocols in dromedary camels: FSH, eCG-FSH and hMG

The objective of this study was to compare three superovulation protocols in dromedary camels. Follicular waves of dromedary camel donors (n=6) were synchronized using two GnRH injections. Superovulation was initiated 2 days after the second injection (day 0 of experiment). The experiment was conducted using change over design, where all females received three superovulation treatments one afte...

Adverse Effect of Superovulation Treatment on Maturation, Function and Ultrastructural Integrity of Murine Oocytes

Regular monitoring on experimental animal management found the fluctuation of ART outcome, which showed a necessity to explore whether superovulation treatment is responsible for such unexpected outcome. This study was subsequently conducted to examine whether superovulation treatment can preserve ultrastructural integrity and developmental competence of oocytes following oocyte activation and ...

Factors Affecting Superovulation and Embryo Transfer in Boer Goats*

Despite many studies, results of superovulation protocols are not consistent in farm animals. In this study, 151 Boer goats were superovulated to examine the factors affecting superovulation and embryo transfer (MOET). An optimal regime for superovulation treatment was identified as a 4-day treatment with decreasing dosages of 6-7 mg Chinese FSH or 240 mg Canadian FSH. The 4-day treatment with ...

P-197: Aberrant Gene Expression Profile in Blastocyst Embryos As Consequences of Assisted Reproductive Technologies

Background: Currently, ARTs are of indispensable importance in treatment of human infertility. While ARTs are considered to be safe, some studies suggest that ARTs manipulations may perturb the epigenetic information and subsequently the health of the offspring. To examine these events further, this study was conducted to assess the effect of superovulation, in vitro culture and vitrification o...

Superovulation alters the expression of imprinted genes in the midgestation mouse placenta.

Imprinted genes play important roles in embryonic growth and development as well as in placental function. Many imprinted genes acquire their epigenetic marks during oocyte growth, and this period may be susceptible to epigenetic disruption following hormonal stimulation. Superovulation has been shown to affect growth and development of the embryo, but an effect on imprinted genes has not been ...
